Palladian Inspired Natatorium

Glencoe, IL

Detailed in Italian limestone from the Lecce region, this Palladian influenced guest house was built to be the focal point of a formal Italian garden designed by Chicago based landscape designer Doug Hoerr. The design includes a classical natatorium inspired by the designs of McKim, Mead and White and the main fa├žade of the guest house is influenced by the Palladian bridge at Stowe and several Dresden villas. Handling the projects technical challenges (creating a curved stone arcade and dehumidification of an indoor pool) speaks to the experience of the team headed by Gibbons, Fortman & Associates.
