East Lake Shore Drive Penthouse

Chicago, IL

This East Lake Shore Drive building was described as “quietly aristocratic” when built in the 1920s and the recent penthouse renovation is in keeping with the well-proportioned Georgian exterior. From the entry’s patterned marble floor to the dining-library’s pippy oak paneling the attention to detail made this project a true labor of love. The zinc fireplace mantel surrounded by a Petit Granit bolection profile adds to the richness established by the aubergine lacquered walls in the living room. The kitchen cerused oak millwork is subtlety highlighted with a silver leafed profile and mercury glass inserts. Touches of elegance continue to surprise with the powder room eglomise and the backlit onyx panel in the master shower.
